Reese Triplett finished her girls high school basketball career in style by surpassing the 1,000 point plateau, recording the most wins by a player and ending a sectional title drought at Tuscarawas Central Catholic.
And her Dad was right by her side.
The 5-foot-8 senior point guard surpassed the 1,000 point mark in her career during the 2022-23 campaign as her father and head coach Greg Triplett led the Saints to a very successful season.
Reese ended up becoming the all-time leader in total wins at Central Catholic with 63. The Saints, the 6th smallest school in the state, recently claimed their first Division IV Sectional title in 17 years.
"It was a good season," understated Triplett. "Playing for my dad was much better than I think anyone would expect. We go together really well and we both really share a love for the game. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way."
A East District First Team selection and Inter-Valley Conference North Division Player of the Year averaged 18 points per game as she shot 46 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the free throw line.
The four year letterwinner also recorded five assists and four steals per game as she had a 2 to 1 assist to turnover ratio.
"She plays to exhaustion every game," said her father, who was a hardwood standout and All-Ohioan for the Saints back in the late 1980s. "I'm blessed to coach at my alma mater and blessed to have coached my daughter. She never stops playing hard. I'm so proud to be her dad and to coach her and her wonderful teammates."
Triplett, an Honorable Mention All-Ohioan in 2021, joins seven other Saints in scoring 1,000 or more points in a Central girls basketball uniform.
Amy Slowikowski is the all-time leader with more than 2,000 points followed by Lori Oberholzer, Julie Reed. Stacy Bongini, Hannah Patchan, Brooke Beamer, Julie Harriman and Triplett, who ended up with 1,041.
"I feel really honored to be mentioned with them, especially Amy Slowikowski," said Triplett. "She didn't have a 3-point line. It was something I really worked hard for over the years and was definitely a goal of mine my senior year."
In addition to her basketball exploits, Triplett helped lead Central Catholic to a District title and a Regional appearance in volleyball this past fall.
Triplett is currently gearing up for the Central softball season before heading off to college where she plans on playing basketball.
