Greg Triplett has announced his resignation as the head coach of Tuscarawas Central Catholic's girls varsity basketball team.
Via a resignation letter penned by Triplett and released on Monday, the head coach will step down after heading the Saints for five seasons. His coaching achievements included a 77-28 win-loss record, a pair of IVC North Division championships (2020-21, 22-23) that twice earned Triplett IVC North Coach of the Year honors, and this past season's Division IV East Sectional championship - the first for Central Catholic in 17 years.
"As I've stated many times. our girls at TCC are "rock stars," Triplett stated. "Most of them play multiple sports. they maintain impressive grades and have proven to be great people in our community. The level of commitment they have made to our program over these years is simply indescribable - from participation (being able to fill Varsity and Junior Varsity rosters despite being one of the smallest schools in the state) to being fierce competitors in every game, and at every practice."
Triplett, who also works as the Vice President of Marketing & Sales at Marlite, Inc. in Dover, cited focus on his job, as well as a desire to see his children participate in collegiate athletics, for his decision to resign.
"Please know that it is not an easy decision for me to step down, but it gives me the chance to focus on the final years of my career at Marlite, spend more time with my family, and watch Jackson run at Xavier and Reese play at the collegiate level. I know the program will be in great hands."
Triplett's daughter, Reese, earned all-state honors while reaching over 1000 points for her career this past campaign.
